Thursday - Qualifying
It's hard to believe that this first year in NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle is coming to an end but here we are at the final race of the year, the weather is in the 70's at about 2250 feet density altitude, just right for my S & S Buell. We are making one pass today, After the burnout I stage and roll into the beams, the lights drop and my Buell just dies then picks back up, we had like a 1.37 60' time when its usually around 1.07 the bike still ran a 7.42 not putting us in the top 12 so we will have to try again tommorow, the crew finds a misaligned cam sensor and a broken wire on the two step switch so hopefully its a better day Friday.
Friday - Qualifying
The second day of the last NHRA race of the season at Pomona California started with cloudy skies and a early light shower but cleared to similar conditions as yesterday. With our not so great run on the first pass the team spent Thursday night and this morning looking for the electrical glitch that has plauged the bike since we put this motor in at Las Vegas. After several hours and some help from Drake at MOTEC the team felt that they had solved some of the problems, since the bike stumbled at the hit yestersday the crew had very little information on the clutch and were forced to make an adjustment based on previous runs, since we didn't run well yesterday the NHRA makes the slower run first up to the fastest from the previous session , we wouldn't have to wait long to find out if we solved the problem . We are the third pair out in the right lane, Doug has a .015 light, a 1.06 60' time, runs to the left but still runs a 6.989 at 191.54 at the end session was the second quickest pass. Doug gets 2 bonus points for the round and sits in the #4 spot going into the final two qualifying session on Saturday, the weather is expected to get cooler overnight, if so his S & S powered Buell should run quicker.
