Qualifying Sessions

After reaching the finals at Houston Raceway Park 3 weeks earlier Doug was excited to participate in the 29th Annual Summit Racing Equipment Nationals at Atlanta Dragway. Friday brought beautiful weather. In the first qualifying session Doug records a 6.997 at 192.30 mph. After reviewing the data crew chief Bob Taft made some adjustments Doug made a 6.934 at 193.57 mph finishing Friday at #7 and safety in the top twelve. Saturday morning features very nice weather. Being in the field the team tried a couple of new things and Doug runs a 7.008 at 187.83 mph and Doug remains #7, using the previous 3 runs Bob Taft makes adjustments and Doug lays down a 6.915 at 193.19 mph for his career best ET and moves him to #5 spot

Sunday's Elimination

At the start of eliminations on Sunday it looked as if the weather might cooperate nut as the time grew closer for the bikes, showers appeared and the program went on hold, after a short delay Doug faced #12 qualifier Michael Phillips. At the start Doug has a .029 light and runs a 6.934 at 192.30 mph to Michael Phillips 6.966 at 192.66 mph. Moving to second round Doug faces Karen Stoffer on the Geico Suzuki. At the tree Doug has another great reaction time .016 and runs a 6.951/ 192.55 to Karens 7.033 at 190.19 mph moving to the semi finals Doug again faces Andrew Hines on the Screamin Eagle V-Rod, Doug cuts another great light a .026 and runs a 6.959 at 191.62 mph to Andrews 6.947 at 191.46 mph for the holeshot win Doug advances to his second final round in the last two races. Doug will face the other Screamin Eagle V-Rod with Eddie Krawic as the rider

With the weather still showing up the finals were delaying for two hours Doug has his career best 60 foot time with a 1.04 Doug runs a 6.949 at 191.13 mph to Eddies 6.902 at 192.91. Congratulations to Eddie Krawic on his first win. Dougs next stop on the NHRA Full Throttler Drag Racing series schedule will be the O’Reilly Midwest Nationals in Madison IL May 1-3.
