Bio of Doug Horne

Pilot – Doug Horne just 18 years old, road his VRod Destroyer for the first time February 25, 2006 at Cecil County Dragway. He was preparing to compete at Gainesville Florida the following weekend, where he qualified 30th. Since that time he has gain experience and respect for the bikes and their riders. He finished his 2006 season 7th in the VRod Destroyer division.  Douglas jumped to the Pro Fuel class in 2007 with a Nitro Burning, Mike Romine built bike and he landed runner up.  Doug will carry the  PF 2 plate on his Pro Fuel bike and VRD 2 on his Destroyer for the 2008 race season.   Back in Aberdeen Maryland Doug works as a crew leader for his father’s concrete company.

Crew Chief - Rex Harris a master tuner and fuel system pioneer in the Nitro Harley ranks joined the Horne Race team in 2007 with the addition of a Mike Romine built 150 cubic inch Nitro Harley bike.

Crew Chief/Owner – Steve Horne, Doug’s father thought the idea of a father-son race team would be a great way for the two of them to do something together. He and Doug maintain the VRod Destroyer bike, and Steve works with Rex on the Pro Fuel bike.  Steve also aids Doug at the line on each pass of both bikes. He’s the glue that holds this team together.

Crew – Vickie Horne, Doug’s mom does whatever needs to be done to get the bike and the rider to the starting line. She can also be found in the pits keeping everybody fed, and relaxed. Vickie also keeps up with the men in her life on her Harley Davidson Deluxe.

Crew – Jessica Horne, Doug’s 18 year old sister helps keep him calm and ready to race. Her support and companionship at the tracks is what keeps the two of them close and his tension low.
